Highland Park Historic Estate

The before and after of this Highland Park estate is quite extraordinary. Rehabbed by a prolific NELA flipper, this house's original integrity was kept completely intact. When I saw the before of this property, I was salivating for it to be ours. Original windows, chair rails and moldings were just begging to be restored. Sadly, our offer lost out but I'm glad to see the rehabbers did this stunner justice and restored it back to its original charm and beauty.

The team paid close attention to details including period lighting fixtures, hardwood floors and even wall, window casing and molding colors. However I'm not so thrilled on the lime green/grey exterior. A more classic dark earth tone three color combo a la Pasadena's bungalow heaven district would have been more to my liking. I love the true-to-the-arts-and-crafts-movement bathroom tiling although I would've liked to have seen it continue on the walls. They did an exceptional job keeping the kitchen cabinetry true to its original style although with the vintage stove, the stainless steel appliances seem a bit out of place. My biggest gripe with the end job is the staging, it simply does not do the stately home justice. It seems once they got to the final piece of the puzzle, they took the cheap road. Of course, staging has nothing to do with what the house will look like in your possession  Lastly, the yard is a lot bigger than it looks dotted with gorgeous mature fruit trees. Enjoy!
