Get Funky! Good Will Hunting House for Sale In The Rock!

The famed chalet where now superstars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon launched their careers for writing the smash hit, Good Will Hunting, is for sale. Considering it was listed early 2010 at $1.3495 million, I'd say this is a steal at $779,000. Its 2187 sf on a 20,490 sf lot, 4 bedrooms, 2 bath and will be sure to please even the most kooky of LA spoiled folk.

Seriously like, can you imagine waking up every morning skipping to your kitchen with your double blonde braids bouncing about in your real life Hansel And Gretel fantasy? I can. And I think I'm gonna have to crash some parties because this Eagle Rock piece of history is only blocks from my crib!

Curbed will give you some history and architectural lessons on the home here:http://la.curbed.com/archives/2011/05/return_of_eagle_rocks_good_will_hunting_house_1.php

Highland Park: From Ghetto To Glam

Most transient Angelenos know nothing of this rough-around-the-edges neighborhood. However, the more humble "cool" crowd including writers, directors, scenesters, small business owners, composers, musicians, trust fund kids, financial professionals, doctors, engineers, scientists, lawyers, gays, costume designers, hipsters, skaters, drinkers, smokers and even pseudo celebs know very well the dirty little secret that is Highland Park. Well not such a secret really. Especially since houses are being listed and sold in the $4 and $500,000s! I mean this is supposed to be a recession people, right? Just 2 years ago I sold a cute 3 bedroom, 1 bath craftsman in a good part of HLP for $240,000. You'd be hard pressed to find a house for $240k right now even if it was used as a meth lab that exploded before it was listed as an REO.

Take for example, this new listing ok so it has nice views, a hot tub and is in a good location of HLP but it's ugly as sin and needs work. Yet homes like this or even this are selling like hot cakes all over the mangy hood. Don't get me wrong, I love Highland Park. It's my stomping ground pretty much and is one of my favorite LA neighborhoods that isn't near the ocean, but are the inflated home sale prices worth as much as people are paying for them? What do you think?

The competition in regards to home buying in Highland Park is fierce and while prices may seem high, they pail in comparison to the $700,000, 2/1s selling in Silver Lake. But remember, not too long ago, Silver Lake was just as rough and tumble as Highland Park. So perhaps, even with the hefty price tags, purchasing a home in Highland Park is a great investment if in ten years HLP will be the new Silver Lake and Boyle Heights will be the new Highland Park. I guess it pays to be a Realtor in Los Angeles. While the rest of the country has a massive home supply collecting dust, LA, SF/bay area and NY are wheelin' and dealin' and can't get homes to buyers fast enough.

Mt. Angelus Dreamy Stunner

I love Mt Angelus. It's so cute and looks so cute on a map. This hidden hill is tucked away in Highland Park and has some beautiful homes with outstanding views. This new 1970s post and beam modern listing is no exception.

After winding up the road to your secluded hilltop 3 bedroom/2 bath location, pull into your sleek gated entry offering privacy and superb curb appeal. Take a sigh of relief as you leap onto your couch with your walls of fold and slide glass doors and Clerestory windows fully open delivering crisp cross breezes across your cheeks. Savor the smells of sweet spices as you gaze at your loved one who's preparing a tantalizing meal in your industrial kitchen equipped with a DCS range, Ceasarstone countertops and a custom pot rack. Dine al fresco on your large deck while the sunsets on the panoramic hills in the foreground and downtown LA in the background. Take an after dinner stroll in your whimsical, tropical garden escape. Maybe you'll even consider playing a little game of hide and seek since you're feeling a bit giddy from the vino. Perhaps a round of tag as you slide across your wood and slate floors and dodge each other throughout your seamless indoor/outdoor flowing living space true to the post and beam architectural style. Feel its time to wind down? Take a dip and splash around in your spa bathtub with tumbled travertine.

As you cuddle in your master suite with the slide and fold doors wide open, the glow of downtown creating just enough nightlight and the sounds of nature soothing you to sleep, you peer up at your finished birch ceilings and ponder your future hide and seek spots. Perhaps next time you'll hide in your Bali inspired backyard, maybe in the fire pit, dry creek beds, fountains or meditation areas. Just as your about to drift off into real estate dream heaven you realize....the perfect hiding spot is in the hidden, secret bonus room.

If all else fails you can give up the games and hop on the gold line which is a block away from your slice of heaven on the hillside.

Smokin' deal at $499,000.
